Personal Profiles

Dr Shane Fudge

PhD
Research Fellow

Short Biography:

Shane joined CES in 2006. His work for the H2 strand of RESOLVE explores the governance and political decision-making aspects of energy and environmental policy. Shane's first year in RESOLVE produced a historical analysis of UK energy policy from 1945 to the present day, which considered the implications for the current commitment to a sustainable energy economy flowing from command and control era regulation and then market-led policy. He is currently working on an international energy policy review which explores the intersection between national policy and the influence of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change

Research Interests:

Shane comes from a non-traditional academic background and went to the University of Glamorgan in 1998 where he studied sociology. After graduation from Glamorgan in 2001 he stayed on as a research assistant, spending a year developing and publishing research in the areas of European integration, the contemporary influence of civil society, the meaning of contemporary citizenship, and the global and domestic third way debate. Shane uses a political economy approach in his current work on energy and the environment.

Research Collaborations:

Shane has worked with Dr Yacob Mulugetta on 'Policy conversations on climate change', Dr Michael Peters on 'Motivating individual carbon reduction through local government-led community initiatives'.
