Personal Profiles
Dr Angela Druckman
MA, MSc, CEng, PhD
Research Fellow
Short Biography:
Angela Druckman joined the Centre of Environmental Strategy (CES) at the University of Surrey in January 2005 as a Research Fellow working on the EPSRC funded Industrial and Social Ecology of Urban Resource Flows project, which is part of the Sustainable Urban Environment (SUE) Waste Consortium. In May 2006 she transferred to the new ESRC Research group on Lifestyles, Values and Environment (RESOLVE). This multidisciplinary research initiative aims to develop a robust understanding of the links between lifestyle, societal values and environment. Angela's role is to develop an energy-economic accounting framework capable of mapping both socio-economic and energy/carbon dimensions of lifestyle (energy lifestyle mapping), and to apply this framework to explore future energy lifestyle scenarios and to assess the implications for governance.
Angela read Engineering at Cambridge University. She went on to achieve Chartered Engineer status through working in research and development in the field of electronics at GEC Hirst Research Centre, where she specialised in the hardware design of speech synthesis systems. Since then she has had a wide variety of experience, including lecturing in electronics at Kingston University, working in a commercial environment for a successful IT company, campaigning on climate change issues for Friends of the Earth as part of their Parliamentary Unit, and educating construction industry professionals in the use of sustainable products and systems.
Angela has an MSc in Environmental Strategy from the Centre for Environmental Strategy at the University of Surrey. Her PhD, also from the University of Surrey, explored the resource use and emissions attributable to UK households from the consumption perspective, using a socio-economically disaggregated approach.
